Wineries
Taste a variety of quality still and sparkling wines at the modern cellar door with sweeping views of the vines and roaming Alpacas, or a meal at AJAR restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating.
Dr Stephen Junk and Ola Tylestam have swapped a life of hospitals and finance for wine, animals and fresh air. The vineyards are roamed by alpacas, Wiltshire sheep, chickens and ducks which looks after most of the weeds and pests, while the four generations of Cocker Spaniel dogs feature on one of the wine ranges labels.
The Wines
The property boasts a selection of clones of pinot noir and chardonnay, used to make both still and sparkling wine. The cool climate growing area assists in high natural acidity and minerality in the wines, while the warm days through summer give a long ripening season for the grapes. Winemakers Mike Garland and James Kellie produce a variety of wines including riesling, sauvignon blanc, shiraz, cabernet, a dessert wine and two sparkling wines.
