Take in the stunning views of the Porongurup range from the cellar door, open 7 days, while tasting multi-award winning wines crafted at this boutique family-owned winery by winemaker Rob Diletti.
Mary and Mike Dilworth established Abbey Creek in 1990 and the original pinot noir and riesling vines were planted in the same year. The cabernet vines were planted in 1993 and now grafted to pinot noir, and the sauvignon blanc vines were planted much later in 2006. Mike remains in the role of viticulturist and Rob Diletti makes the wines.
The name Abbey Creek is a combination of two geological markers at the estate: the creek that runs (in winter) alongside the vineyard; and the view of The Abbey in the Stirling Range, WAs highest collection of peaks. The vineyards are nestled on the northern slope of the Porongurup range, providing a dramatic backdrop when looking over the vineyard towards the main house.
The Wines
The Porongurup sub-region in the Great Southern is known for producing long-lived rieslings with distinct floral characteristics, and pinots that show bright cherry, pomegranate and red berry characteristics.
