Five Bob Farm is located at Birchs Bay, on the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, a 50-minute (50 km) drive south of Hobart, just past Woodbridge.
Walks through the farm, the forest and around a busy and productive Kitchen Garden are open all year round for a small charge, and visitors are welcome to arrange a guided talk and visit to the 'pepper shed' .
The farm is host to Art Farm Birchs Bay - a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to supporting artists, providing an exhibition space, and encouraging engagement with, and interpretation of the rural and natural landscape through the medium of the arts. AFBB stages an annual sculpture exhibition of 25-30 outdoor pieces from November-January and some 20 permanent pieces adorn the walks for year-round interest - open all year.
The property produces a large part of Australia's native Tasmanian pepper crop, which is grown, dried and packaged at the farm and sold under the Diemen Pepper label. Products include packaged berries and leaf, tapas oils, vinegar and a range of native bush spices such as lemon and anise myrtle, wattleseed and bush tomato. The farm also has a 3-hectare vineyard planted in 2017.
The building and facilities previously occupied as a cafe are now available for function hire.
