Newcastle Airport is one of only two airports in Australia that achieved Level 4 Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) by Airports Council International. Out of 591 airports participating in the ACA Program, only 98 have reached Level 4 or higher, positioning Newcastle Airport as a leader in sustainability and an inspiring example for others to follow on the path to a greener future.

The airport has also earned a 5-Star Green Star ‘Designed’ Record of Achievement for its terminal expansion project. Additionally, the Astra Aerolab buildings are designed to aim for a 5-star Green Star rating through the Green Building Council of Australia, along with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation.

For those looking for accommodation near the airport, Corporate Keys Newcastle furnished apartments offer a convenient and comfortable option for both short and long stays, providing easy access to the airport and surrounding areas.

Newcastle Airport is dedicated to achieving net zero emissions within its operational control by 2030.

In July 2021, a 99kW solar system was installed on the Newcastle Airport Hangar, marking a significant step towards its sustainability goals. Additionally, the newly constructed Premium Covered Car Park features 1,236 solar panels, forming a 710kW system that will supply more than 30% of the airport’s electricity needs.

Further demonstrating its commitment to renewable energy, Newcastle Airport has signed a new energy purchase agreement with Flow Power, positioning the airport to achieve 100% renewable energy seven years ahead of schedule.

For travellers and business professionals visiting the area, serviced apartments in Newcastle provide an ideal accommodation option. These apartments offer the flexibility of short or long stays and are located conveniently close to the airport, making them a perfect base for those exploring the region while benefiting from eco-friendly lodging options.
