Starting this Friday, 6 September 2024, Jetstar will expand its network with up to four weekly flights connecting Perth to Bangkok. This new route follows the recent introduction of Jetstar's services between Perth, Singapore, and Phuket.
With these three additional routes from Western Australia's capital to Asia, Jetstar is offering over 300,000 new low-cost seats annually. This increase provides West Australians with more travel choices and attracts thousands of tourists to the state.
Passengers can now connect to Jetstar Asia's network of 17 destinations, including Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Okinawa, Japan, with a single stop in Singapore.
This new service in Western Australia builds on Jetstar's earlier 2024 expansion, which introduced budget flights between Sydney and Busselton Margaret River and between Singapore and Broome on Jetstar Asia.
Jetstar has officially launched a new base in Perth to bolster its new routes and accommodate future expansion in Western Australia. This facility will house up to 60 pilots and four of the latest additions to Jetstar's fleet, the Airbus A321neo LR.
These Perth-based aircraft are part of a broader plan that includes 38 new A321neo LR and XLR models slated to join Jetstar's fleet by 2029. The 15th new LR recently arrived in Australia, marking a significant milestone as Jetstar embarks on a new phase of fleet renewal, network expansion, and enhanced reliability.
Additionally, starting today, Jetstar’s domestic flights in Perth will operate from Terminal 2, moving from Terminal 3. Terminal 2 is conveniently located next to Terminal 1, where international flights depart, allowing for seamless connections between domestic and international services. This change eliminates the need for a shuttle bus between terminals and simplifies access to central Perth via the airport's underground train station.
For travellers looking for a comfortable and convenient stay near the airport, Corporate Keys offers serviced apartments in Perth. Their properties provide an excellent option for short-term and extended stays, ensuring guests have a well-equipped and relaxing environment during their visit.
Jetstar Group CEO Stephanie Tully emphasized that after two decades of operations in Australia, the airline now focuses on expanding opportunities in the West.
"With strong demand for affordable flights, we're excited to introduce over 300,000 new low-fare seats annually with our new routes from Perth to Singapore, Phuket, and Bangkok. Last year, we transported over 370,000 passengers between Perth and Bali, proving the high demand for travel to Asia. We’re confident these new flights will be equally popular.
Our plan to station up to 60 pilots and four aircraft in Perth will enable us to grow our network in the region further, offering more travel options for West Australians and contributing to the state's tourism industry.
WA Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti has expressed enthusiasm for the new routes. 'These direct flights from Southeast Asia will significantly boost Western Australia's tourism sector, enhancing Perth’s role as the Western Gateway to Australia. We anticipate increased travel from these destinations and other high-growth Asian markets. The expansion of Jetstar’s operations, supporting up to 60 pilots, underscores the strong confidence in Western Australia.'
Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters added, "It's thrilling to see Jetstar expand its international services into Perth. The investment in new aircraft and the WA-based pilot team will generate more local jobs and significantly enhance regional tourism and trade opportunities." For those travelling through Perth Airport, Corporate Keys offers serviced apartments that provide a convenient and comfortable nearby accommodation, ideal for short-term and extended stays.
