Emirates has decided to end its long-running Melbourne to Singapore route after nearly three decades of service. The airline has been flying this route with its Boeing 777 aircraft since 1996.
Despite the announcement, Emirates has yet to specify the exact date when the flights will cease, leaving passengers waiting for further updates on the discontinuation of the eight-hour journey between these two major cities.
Emirates plans to finalize the termination date for its EK404/405 service between Singapore and Melbourne after receiving a review from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS).
Once confirmed, Emirates will notify affected passengers and offer alternative travel options. Although the Melbourne-Singapore leg will be cut, Emirates will maintain multiple daily flights between Singapore and Dubai, as well as two direct A380 services from Melbourne to Dubai. This marks the end of Emirates' direct connections between Singapore and Australia following the 2019 discontinuation of its Brisbane-Singapore route.
For those travelling through Melbourne, a range of serviced and fully furnished Melbourne accommodation options is available, ideal for both short-term stays and longer visits.
