Why You Should Stay At Hotels With Solar

It can be difficult to remain completely eco-friendly when you’re on vacation. It can be difficult to remain completely eco-friendly when you’re on vacation. If you’re eco-conscious, you’ve probably outfitted your home with all kinds of environmentally safe appliances and tools. You have probably also memorized a list of which stores and restaurants in your area carry goods of this nature. A lot of these things are lost when you find yourself in a new place for a short period of time. While you may be able to find hotels, stores, and restaurants that have what you want, they may not advertise them on their sites. One thing that you can do if you find yourself bereft of any clear information on this matter is finding a hotel that uses solar. You can learn if one of these places is using solar panels or not by looking for them when you look up images on google maps or their home websites. Here are two reasons why this is a good idea.

It’s More Likely That the Hotel Is Eco-Friendly

If a hotel is using commercial solar panels, it’s more likely that other products and processes throughout their facility will be eco-friendly as well. The use of panels can indicate that the management cares about the environment or they at least care about attracting guests that have these values. Thus, they will want everything possible in their facility to make their target audience comfortable. Of course, you can’t be 100% sure of this as it may just be that the hotel is using solar to save costs on energy. Be sure to call the business ahead of time and ask them if they compost their food, launder their bedding and towels less, and do other types of carbon footprint reducing activities of which you are aware. This may be somewhat tedious, but it will be less tedious if you only call the solar-paneled places in the surrounding area and not all of them.

The Concierge Can Probably Give You Good Recommendations

One of the abilities of concierge workers is to give their guests recommendations of places to visit in the nearby area. You can ask them about the local restaurants, stores, and entertainments and they’ll most likely be able to point out which ones are high-quality or are popular with tourists. You can use this service to your advantage when you’re on the hunt for places that want to have as little impact on the environment as possible. The next time that you’re on vacation, ask the workers at the reception desk what places they think are the most eco-friendly. While it might be difficult for workers at a regular hotel to think of places, the workers at a solar-powered one will likely be able to do it better. As mentioned, this type of business is likely eco-conscious themselves or they want to attract an eco-conscious crowd. For them not to have a list of local places that their type of expected guest would appreciate would be very poor management. They might have also put in the effort to build up a list after attracting many of these kinds of clients who all asked similar questions.

The Business Can Still Help The Environment

One thing to remember is that even if the hotel is using panels just to save costs on energy, it doesn’t change your own personal reason why you want to stay there. Realize that choosing to stay at this particular facility over another is still assisting in the decline of climate change, even if it’s only a small bit.

Your decision to patronize a hotel that uses this kind of power over another might also send a message to local businesses that tourists only want to stay at these kinds of places. This might make those companies decide to step up their eco game in not just their power sources, but their processes and facilities. Pleasant travels and good luck on being able to have a vacation that causes the least environmental impact possible.
