Who says being alone in Melbourne is boring? You’ll be shocked with everything that the city has to offer. Here are a few of them.

Drink and Dine

Aussies take their brekkies seriously. When you go around to several brunch spots in the city, be sure to try a couple of breakfast staples of Melburnians such as smashed avo and ricotta pancakes with seasonal berries. Melbourne is the home of some of the finest chefs in the country. See them in action as they prepare mouthwatering dishes at restaurants with an open kitchen. A few places we recommend are Cumulus Inc, Pastuso and Chez Dre

If you want to eat at a place that has some history behind it, then better check out Pellegrini’s. Have a seat at their 70-year-old benches and stools, and choose any of their sumptuous dishes from their 70-year-old menu. We recommend you try their colossal lasagna or ravioli.

The city also boasts of diverse cultures. If you’re craving for some good ‘ol dumplings, then be sure to visit Chinatown. There you can also try several other dishes including oyster cakes, Peking duck, and chow mein.

Finally, visit Lulie Street Tavern, Black Pearl and Rooks Return for some nightcap. Their friendly and talkative bartenders here can surely keep you entertained as you enjoy a drink or two.

Chill Out

Take a walk at Melbourne’s Princes Park or and experience the city’s beautiful outdoors. This is a perfect activity for those who have pet dogs that need walkies.

For people who want to relieve the muscle tension and stress from traveling and going around the city, then we highly recommend getting a massage or spa treatment at Bayside Body Therapy, Sakura Lounge, among others.

If you haven’t experienced going to bathhouse or hot springs yet, then this is your chance. The city boasts several outstanding places for you to take a dip in and just relax. However, if you want something more exciting, you can definitely have a swim at Melbourne’s top beaches, lakes, pools, and rivers.

Retail Therapy

Since you have all the time to yourself, it’s the perfect time for rummaging through a second-hand bookshop or vintage shopping at Chapel St Bazaar and Fitzroy’s Lost and Found. Who knows what pre-loved gems you might get your hands on.

If music is more of your thing, then we highly suggest that you check out Greville Records and Northside Records.

For individuals who want to visit the city’s high-end stores thenCurtin House, Metropolis, and Dot Comme are a few places that should be on your itinerary.

Interesting Activities

If gaming is your thing, then you definitely have to visit Melbourne’s vintage video game bars such as Bartronica and Pixel Alley.

For artsy travelers, we recommend the city’s free art galleries or you can simply visit the Melbourne Museum to experience the unique and astonishing Bugs Alive room and dinosaur area.

Other unique activities you can do in Melbourne are taking dance or circus classes, volunteering at a local op shop, exploring the Abbotsford Convent, taking scenic shots around the area, running the Tan, and spending quality time with adorable felines at the Cat Café.

But if you’re energy is out and you just want to see the beautiful city from above, then be sure to visit Rooftop Bar, Lui Bar or Eureka Skydeck.
