As travellers increasingly prioritize slowing down, disconnecting, and focusing on their well-being, hoteliers must adapt to evolving wellness trends. Experts emphasize that wellness should be an integrated experience, extending beyond spas and fitness centres to encompass every aspect of a guest’s stay.

A Holistic Approach to Wellness

Ken Cruse, CEO of SCP Hotels, compares this shift to feeding children vegetables—guests shouldn’t have to think about wellness; it should be naturally embedded into their experience. “It’s about making wellness an integral component, whether guests are aware of it or not,” he said.

With this changing consumer mindset, hotels are embracing a more holistic approach, particularly in key wellness trends shaping 2025.

Sleep Tourism: Prioritizing Restful Stays

A good night’s sleep is fundamental to any hotel stay, but in 2025, hotels are taking sleep to the next level. Hyatt is partnering with Headspace to provide in-room wellness content across 400 hotels, while select properties, like Andaz 5th Avenue, offer white noise machines, essential sleep oils, blackout curtains, and specialty mattresses.

However, Lynn Curry, principal at Curry Spa Consulting, warns against segmenting sleep experiences too much. “Every hotel room should be a sleep room,” she said, advocating for universally enhanced rest environments.

Embracing Analog Travel and JOMO (Joy of Missing Out)

The rise of "analog wellness" encourages guests to disconnect and be present. TJ Abrams, vice president of global well-being at Hyatt, highlights the growing appeal of slow travel. “With the Instagram culture, people are seeking ways to immerse themselves in the moment truly,” he said.

SCP Hotels is tapping into this trend by reconnecting guests with nature. “Humans have long created separation from nature, but when we integrate it into wellness experiences, we’re moving in the right direction,” Cruse said.

Merging Experiences with Fitness

Wellness is no longer limited to gyms—hotels are blending fitness with unique local experiences. SCP offers activities like sunrise surfing lessons, which Cruse describes as a “stealth workout.” “Guests don’t even realise they’re exercising, but they return feeling stronger and more connected,” he said.

Hyatt also integrates fitness into local experiences, with over 200 wellness programs led by 125 well-being ambassadors. Abrams notes, “Guests want to be immersed in the local culture, and these experiences can be transformative.”

For travelers seeking long-term accommodation with wellness in mind, Corporate Keys provides fully furnished serviced apartments with high-quality fitness facilities, ensuring guests can maintain their health and exercise routines with ease. Whether staying for business or leisure, access to well-equipped gyms and wellness amenities allows guests to prioritize their well-being during extended stays.

Expanding Spa Hours and Amenities

As spa demand grows, hotels are shifting toward more flexible, communal wellness offerings. Labour shortages have led to an increase in open-treatment concepts, such as hydrotherapy, cold plunges, and communal baths.

Additionally, extended spa hours cater to business travellers. “Many female travellers prefer to skip dinner out for a 7 p.m. massage,” Curry noted. SCP’s "spa after hours" program has also seen significant success, reflecting the growing demand for nighttime wellness.

Elevating Healthy Food and Beverage Options

Guests are becoming more mindful about nutrition, expecting organic, locally sourced meals and sophisticated non-alcoholic beverages. “Travelers won’t settle for poor food quality,” said Pam Cruse, head of brand awareness at SCP. “They’re demanding better dining options, both in restaurants and throughout their hotel stays.”

As wellness evolves, hotels are responding with experiences that seamlessly integrate rest, nature, movement, and nutrition—ensuring every stay supports holistic well-being.
