She believes the combination of post-pandemic work habits and the growing volume of AI-generated content has strengthened demand for authentic, face-to-face experiences where trust can be established through genuine interaction. Research highlighted by Saxton also found that in-person events remain overwhelmingly preferred, with approximately 95 per cent of speaker engagements still delivered live rather than virtually.

One reason for this trend is credibility. As AI tools become capable of producing articles, videos, presentations, and social media posts within seconds, professionals are placing greater value on conversations that happen in person. Looking someone in the eye during a keynote presentation, workshop, or networking session creates a level of authenticity that cannot easily be replicated through digital channels. Personal interactions allow attendees to evaluate expertise, build confidence, and establish lasting professional relationships.

Networking remains one of the strongest reasons professionals attend business events. While presentations and educational sessions continue to attract delegates, many attendees value the conversations that happen between sessions just as much as the formal program itself. A chance introduction during a coffee break may lead to future partnerships, client referrals, recruitment opportunities, or collaborative projects years later. These outcomes are often difficult to measure immediately but provide significant long-term value for both individuals and organisations.
