After a five-year break in Queensland, the Australian Supercross is back, promising to thrill fans with two sold-out days of action this Saturday and Sunday.
With 40% of attendees expected to travel from outside the region, this Supercross weekend will greatly boost the local economy.
Two-time SX World Champion Chad Reed, who is serving as the event's ambassador, will headline the event. His son, Tate Reed, will also compete in the 85cc class on Saturday.
Ahead of the big weekend, the Reed family has been enjoying some downtime exploring the region, with highlights including jet-skiing around Bribie Island, a helicopter ride over Bribie’s lagoons, and indulging in a seafood feast at the Sandstone Point Hotel.
Chad Reed expressed his excitement about returning to Australia and his role as ambassador for the event, saying, "This weekend’s event is significant for our family as we have returned to Australia for Tate’s first race in Queensland. We’ve enjoyed making new memories here, and I’m thrilled to mentor and represent Australian Supercross."
Visit Moreton Bay CEO Tash Wheeler highlighted the energy surrounding the event, stating, “This weekend, the Moreton Bay region welcomes around 20,000 attendees to open the season in Redcliffe. Around 8,000 of these spectators are coming from outside the region, in addition to the riders and their families. While here, we encourage them to follow the Reed family’s example by exploring our waterways, sandy beaches, and national parks and enjoying some fresh seafood.”
For those travelling from afar, Brisbane hotel accommodation options provide a range of choices for visitors. Whether looking for luxury hotels, budget-friendly stays, or convenient serviced apartments, guests can find suitable lodging to enhance their experience during the event.
Wheeler also applauded the transformation of Kayo Stadium, which was filled with 6,000 tonnes of dirt to create intricate race tracks. “It’s incredible to see Kayo Stadium turned into dirt tracks where international stars and homegrown heroes will stun crowds. It’s a great day out for families and adventure seekers alike.”
Defending champion Dean Wilson will go head-to-head with international competitors Joey Savatgy and Aaron Tanti, alongside Australian stars Matt Moss and Luke Clout, promising an adrenaline-fueled weekend of Supercross action.
