Opening in July 2011, The General Food Store loves sharing passion for wholesome food and vibrant hospitality with fellow hills residents and visitors to beautiful Emerald. Owner Paul 'Dougie' Douglas has had over twenty years experience as a chef working in some of London's top fine dining restaurants, but it was in Melbourne where Paul met his wife Belinda, a graphic designer and they soon started to plot their first joint business venture; The General Food Store. The General Food Store are committed to creating an ever evolving menu using seasonal ingredients sourced from the local and greater Victorian food regions. The store has direct trade coffee and is roasted in Melbourne by the talented team at Coffee Supreme and the providore is stocked with Victorian produce and house-made goodies. The General Food Store take pride in catering for varied dietary requirements. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and kids are not only welcome but encouraged and the team work hard on the menu to reflect this.
