Coombe Yarra Valley, once the home of legendary soprano Dame Nellie Melba, is still owned and operated by her direct descendants, the Vestey family. The Coombe vineyards were established in 1998 and are located just five minutes north-east of Coldstream, approximately 60 kilometres from the centre of Melbourne.
Specialising in the varietals long associated with the cool climate region of the Yarra Valley - Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; Coombe Yarra Valley's range of wines also includes Pinot Gris and Shiraz as well as a traditional Sparkling Blanc de Blancs. Wine tastings are available at the Cellar Door six days a week.
Coombe Yarra Valley is situated behind the dramatic hedge of Melba's Coombe Cottage property in Coldstream. The restored historic motor house and stable blockhouse the Cellar Door and a 150-seat restaurant, a providore store and a stroll- through the gallery, which delves into the legend of Dame Nellie Melba.
