Owner Ilaria Paiella her husband Matteo would like to invite you to join them at Michelangelo Osteria, where they offer traditional and authentic Italian cuisine. As the Head Chef, Matteo makes as much as he can in the kitchen, including fresh pasta, gnocchi, pizza, salami and preserves. In fact, the menu is completely homemade, infused with a love for genuine Italian flavours and an appreciation for eating well. Both Matteo and Illaria are Italian natives having spent a large portion of their lives in restaurants in Italy before separately moving to Australia. Since 1960, Illaria's family owned a legendary wine shop and restaurant in the heart of Rome, Enoteca Corsi, while Matteo studied commercial cookery and worked at the famous Italian seafood restaurant, Il Saraghino. Their paths crossed in Melbourne and it was then they became partners in life and moved back to Rome to also become partners in business managing E’Nosteria. It was when their first child was born that they made the choice to move back to Australia and then created their second ‘child’: Michelangelo.
