Lido Cinemas is a sleek artiplex in the heart of Hawthorn's bustling Glenferrie Road, featuring eight cinemas and a rooftop screen. The Lido hosts special events, new release and retrospective screenings in an intimate and specialised cinema space. Possessing a vibrant atmosphere and boutique, and individually designed cinemas, Lido’s diverse program of films and events is sure to appeal to anyone who loves cinema. The Lido’s unique space has lost none of its grandeur since its opening as a cinema in 1912. Innovative Architect Aidan Halloran has combined the building’s original structural features with contemporary design and technology. Preserving the building’s historic charm has been at the forefront of the design process and they hope you enjoy seeking out the cinema’s gorgeous original features. Alongside these historic features, Lido boasts cutting edge visual technology, including a 4K projector and Dolby Atmos, and is home to the beloved annual Fantastic Film Festival Australia (FFFA). The site is owned and operated by Moving Story Entertainment, an independent boutique cinema company operated by the Tamir family. Sister cinemas include Cameo Cinemas in Belgrave, Classic Cinemas in Elsternwick, and Ritz Cinemas in Randwick NSW.
