Keppel Sands is an isolated coastal village located along Queensland's Capricorn Coast between Rockhampton and Emu Park. The Keppel Sands Ko-Op initiative was created by a group of Keppel Sanders to help enhance and sustain individual and community well-being. With the core objective of inclusion, this group wanted to create a special place for people to simply come together . Their vision was that every visitor to the Ko-Op would experience the friendship and warmth that is the spirit of Keppel Sands. Local Chef Tam Waters, a Foodie with global experience and with community at heart leads the café as the primary business in the Ko-Op providing training and employment to a number of locals. The Ko-Op also supports a number of micro-businesses including a hair-dressing, a beautician salon, and a Reiki / counsellor. Along with the cafe, these businesses are helping employment and tourism in a very inconspicuous yet beautiful village in regional Queensland.
