The ANU Classics Museum is a gem in the Canberra museum scene. Established in 1962, it has a collection of some 600 authentic artefacts concerned with life in ancient Greece and Rome.
The collection spans the Mediterranean and beyond. It features examples of ancient art and objects of daily life from Greece and the Roman world, including Egypt and the Near East.
The museum's areas of strength include domestic items, writing and commemoration, southern Italian pottery, and drama.
Enjoy a free hour long volunteer-guided tour on the second Friday of each month.
