The stunning 360 degree views of South East Queensland from the peak of Mount Cotton (Jungalpin/Tungipin) make the steep trek along the Eastern Escarpment Conservation Area well worth the effort.
The Conservation Area lies to the east of Mount Cotton Road, Sheldon, bordering the Redlands Coast suburb of Mount Cotton. The 186ha reserve forms the upper catchment of Eprapah Creek. You can park the car and enter at any of the access points along West Mount Cotton Road. Be careful you do not trespass on surrounding land, as it is privately owned.
This area is a local favourite with bushland venturers! It includes horse riding, mountain bike trails, bushwalking and bird and butterfly watching, with a medium walk on a graded track with some steep grades. Trek through rainforest-lined gullies and creek lines with open Grey Gum and Spotted Gum Forest and experience a biodiverse ecosystem that includes endangered and rare plants and animals.
