In 1864 Queensland became the fifth state to gain its own police department and since then every element of policing practice has evolved dramatically. The Queensland Police Museum is dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and exhibiting the history of policing in this state.
We are located on the ground floor of Queensland police headquarters and open to the public Monday to Thursday and usually open on the last Sunday of the month (Feb-Nov). We are not open on public holidays or for the two weeks of the Christmas/New Year break.
The exhibition space incorporates 25 displays illustrating a range of policing themes. There are also displays on working units such as the Stock Squad and the Dog Squad. Our new Augmented Reality Crime Scene is worth a try.
