Artisan

Artisan is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary craft and design practice for both makers and their audiences. Artisan began its legacy in 1970 and has, for almost 50 years, been the home of craft and design in Queensland. They share, celebrate and offer advocacy for Australian practitioners with exhibitions, events, workshops and the Artisan store. Artisan enriches cultural life in Queensland by harnessing creative and commercial opportunities and collaborates with organisations, businesses and the broader community. Their year-round program includes diverse and thought-provoking contemporary craft and design exhibitions and regular workshops led by craftspeople to share their skills with participants. The Artisan store houses the work of up to 100 Australian designers and craftspeople. Each piece of jewellery, ceramic, glass, fabric, weaving, ornament or object has been created using traditional artisanal skills or contemporary design and manufacture - mostly a delightful combination of the two.
